How do i replace the default banner image in osCommerce?

I dont recommend just creating and uploading a new image with the same file name. Reason for this is that the "Title", "ALT Tag" and "description" of the image are hard coded into the source code of osCommerce. This creates SEO problems since to the search engines, your providing a search result for "oscommerce" and not a keyword specific to your site.

However, to answer your question, the "easiest" method, not the "best" method is to create a new banner, name it the same as the one that comes with oscommerce and over write it by uploading your new image over it.

You can usually fond out the name of any image on your website, by placing your mouse over that image, and right clicking your mouse, then selecting "properties" form the menu that apears. this will tell you the path and file name of that image. Create a new image to replace it, then upload the image to that path, and make sure it has the same file name so it over writes the original image, viola, you just replaced your logo, banner etc. **Use caution, you should always backup the original image just in case**

Doing it correctly requires a knowledge of PHP coding. TO request this be done properly, submit a development and programming request to us. This would typically take 15 minutes or less of programming code. A small price to pay for SEO friendly sites!
